SIUC Receives National Science Foundation Grant

U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL), a senior member of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee and the Ranking Democrat on the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee, announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has received a $254,661 grant from the National Science Foundation. The funding is in support of a project titled, "III: Small: Pattern Learning in a Minimax Framework," under the direction of Qiang (Shawn) Cheng.

"Federal support is an important element in basic research," said Costello. "Projects such as these help fulfill the academic mission of the University, and I will continue to work to ensure that we adequately fund federal research and development programs."
